Before Vina Anze was born, Anže Ivančič spent 13 years of his life learning the ancient craft of skin-contact winemaking in the cellar of Josko Gravner the legendary Italian who single-handedly revived the tradition of orange wine. In 2017, he finally struck out on his own: Vina Anže.

The Terroir
The family's vineyards sit on the sun-drenched slopes around Biljana, in the heart of Goriška Brda. Here, the warm Mediterranean air meets cool breezes from the Julian Alps, creating dramatic day-night temperature shifts that preserve the grapes' acidity and aromatic complexity. The soils are classic flysch, alternating layers of sandstone and marl, which impart a distinct mineral tension to every wine. Ivančič works with the region's signature varieties: Rebula (known as Ribolla Gialla across the border in Italy), as well as Chardonnay, Friulano, and a touch of Merlot.

The Gravner Inheritance
Anže's approach is minimalist: organic farming, indigenous yeasts, extended skin contact, and zero intervention in the cellar. The star of his tiny lineup is his Rebula, a structured, skin-contact white that spends weeks or months macerating on its skins, emerging with a brilliant amber hue, aromas of peach and dried apricot, and a pronounced minerality. He also produces Jožef, a blend of Rebula, Chardonnay, and Friulano.

More than Gravner
Anže Ivančič may not yet be a household name, but among natural wine lovers and sommeliers, his bottles have become quiet cult favourites. The young winemaker's precise, elegant style has earned a place on wine lists in top restaurants across Slovenia and beyond. With his tiny production and a philosophy rooted in patience and respect for the grape, Ivančič is carrying the torch of Gravner's legacy into the next generation, one amber wine at a time.
