Bernard Zito is one of the most experienced winemakers in Burgundy. A specialist in organic and biodynamic viticulture and winemaking, he worked for the Boisset group (Jean-Charles Boisset) for almost 20 years, where he was implementing biodynamic viticulture at various estates within the group.
He is currently a consultant to Louis-Michel Liger Belair, Comte Liger Belair, Domaine des Lambray and Charles Lachaux.
Bernard began making his own boutique labels in 2009 at the Château de Bligny-les-Beaune which is partly owned by Dominique Lafon. Only 8,000 bottles are crafted in the vintage 2020. The wine style at this address has been described as juicy and energetic. The intensity and concentration reach a fine balance without crossing that border where concentration becomes density.
Bernard practices organic and biodynamic viticulture, normally includes around 30% stems, no sulfites are added during natural yeast fermentation, and the use of new oak is kept minimal.
