Paul Prieur & Fils: Stunning Sauvignon Blanc from the Heart of Sancerre

Paul Prieur & Fils have been winemakers in Sancerre for generations. Their estate is located at the top of Verdigny, at the foot of the Monts Damnés slope. With 11th generation winemaker Luc Prieur at its helm since 2012, this organic estate is now one of the most exciting name in the region. Luc Prieur makes three Sancerre Blanc.

Two single-vineyard bottlings from the famed Les Monts Damnes and Pieuchaud, and the Sancerre Blanc Mise d'Ete which is a blend of all three types of soil in Sancerre. Luc makes four different expressions of Pinot Noir: two still red wine, one rose, and one Pet-nat (petillant naturel).  The red grapes are from the terroir called "Les Pichons", a quasi-monopoly of 5 ha planted in the 1950s with old massale selections. All wines of the estate are cultivated in an artisanal way, expecting to be fully organic certified in the 2022 vintage. Weedkillers, insecticides, and other chemicals are prohibited and all grapes are hand-harvested.
