Collection: Domaine des Marnes Blanches, Jura
Domaine des Marnes Blanches is founded in 2006 by Geraud and Pauline Fromont in Cesancey, Saint Agnès area of Jura. Cesancey is characterized by the white marl soil, which the name “marnes blanches” is from. The couples are now working on 12 hectares of vines spread across three towns in the southern part of the Côtes du Jura AOC: Cesancey, Vincelles, and Ste-Agnès. The winery’s holdings now cover different kinds of soil such as white marl, red marl, gryphees-limestone rich in fossils, with vines up to 100 years old and interesting local strains such as Melon-Queue-Rouge and Savagnin Muscaté. The winery is now Ecocert certified.
Winemaking:
All of their parcels are vinified separately, known as ouillé by the local, a rather contemporary concept in Jura. The wines are and aged in either stainless steel or neutral cask, with minimal use of sulfites. Geraud and Pauline are much influenced by Burgundy and Champagne's Viniculture and Vinification, as Geraud studied in Macon, Dijon and Reims, while Pauline in Dijon.
