Collection: Barolo: Castello di Verduno, Verduno
We are proud to present to you masterpieces from one of the most important estate in Barolo: Castello di Verduno.
The castle was built in 1631 and it was the summer house of King Carlo Alberto of the House of Savoy (father of Victor Emmanuel II, the first king of an unified Italy in 1861). Carlo Alberto is a big fan of Barolo and he liked the wine so much that he started to make Barolo himself at Castello di Verduno with the help of General Paolo Francesco Staglieno.
Nowadays, this estate is in the hands of Gabriella Burlotto (Scroll down for more details about the Burlotto family) and her husband Franco Bianco. Gabriella treated her vineyards as part of the extension of her house and the vineyards were worked organic since the 1970s. This is a traditionalist estate making elegant but structural Nebbiolo wines. Same as the first dry Barolo wines, only natural yeasts are used and there is no fining nor filtration.
