Where is Valtellina?
Valtellina Valley, located in the Northern part of the Lombardy province under the feet of Alps, is an example of Alpine heroic viticulture.
Valtellina Valley finds one of the only longitudinally river valley in Italy - River Adda runs from East to West horizontally. As a results, all the vineyards on the right bank of the river are south facing. This exposure allows Nebbiolo grapes to ripe fully in cool Alpine weather conditions.

What is Sforzato di Valtellina DOCG?
Both Valtellina Superiore DOCG and Sforzato di Valtellina DOCG are wines from Nebbiolo (locally called Chiavennasca). These are great example of Nebbiolo from Alpine region, with intense flavours of red berries and alpine herbs. The freshness and minerality are hallmark of Nebbiolo of the area. Sforzato di Valtellina are made from partially dried grapes.
