Aged in Qvevri, this is a classical Georgian amber wine and certainly a textbook one. Full of orange peel, citrus, apricot, peach and tropical fruits, with note of honey, mushroom and black pu’er tea as aftertaste. An ideal wine for grilled fish, hard cheese and even savory pastry.
Grape: Rkatsiteli
About the 3 Qvevri Terraces system:
Papari Valley’s unique and innovative terraced Qvevri system enables vinification using gravity.
The first terrace: located in cellar, for fermentation.
The second terrace: located in cellar, for ageing.
The third terrace: located in basement, for ageing.
This Rkatsiteli has gone through the terrace system in 6 months, and is finally aged in Qvevri number 9.
About Rkatsiteli: Can be understood as Chardonnay of Georgia. Though it is now grown throughout Georgia as well as abroad, Rkatsiteli is believed to be emerged in eastern Georgia in the first century. Rkatsiteli makes noticeably acidic but balanced white wine with a full flavour profile and good body. Restrained and refreshing, with crisp green-apple flavours and hints of quince and white peach, Rkatsiteli are more complex when produced using the traditional Georgian qvevri method. Rkatsiteli grapes are frequently mixed with the Mtsvane Kakhuri variety.
